DISEASE SOLUTIONS

Due to the increased aggressiveness of fungi and climate change effects, keeping diseases under control remains a major challenge for all growers. That is why it is very important to use the right fungicide at the right time.

The Dacom fungal disease control system provides the grower with advice via his computer regarding the optimum moment at which to use fungicides and which type of fungicide to use. The system determines whether present conditions favour an outbreak of disease - commonly referred to as critical periods. If this is the case, the grower is alerted by the Dacom system. He can subsequently determine for himself which actions need to be taken.

Utilising this solution results in the more efficient deployment of fungicides and ensures maximum crop yield and quality. The models in this system were developed in collaboration with scientific experts from various institutes, including Wageningen University and Stellenbosch University.

IRRIGATION SOLUTION

Water is one of the most important factors in crop growth. This occasionally necessitates the irrigation of crops during the growing season.

The key is to irrigate the right volume at the right moment. By installing a soil moisture sensor in the grower's field, the Dacom irrigation solution shows what the daily water consumption of the crop has been throughout the different soil layers.

This data can be used to determine the optimum time for irrigation. This prevents both damage due to draught stress and excessive watering. The Dacom irrigation solution is available for all crops.

INSECT SOLUTION

Insects can do a great deal of damage to crops if they are left uncontrolled. Climate conditions play a major role in this process.

The Dacom insect control system provides a grower with advice via his computer regarding the insect's current development stage. This allows the correct moment and the correct type of insecticide to be determined.

Optimum insect control results in increased crop yields.

FERTILIZER SOLUTION

To allow for the optimum growth of crops, it is important to administer fertilisers correctly. An effective fertilisation plan is therefore required. On the one hand for the optimum growth of plants, on the other to stay within the established usage norms for nitrogen and phosphate.

During the season, the Dacom fertiliser solution advises how much and at which point to apply fertiliser. The advantage of this system is that the fertilisers can be optimally absorbed by the plant, with improved crop yields as a result.

The system was developed in collaboration with the Louis Bolk Institute in Driebergen.
